We heard yesterday that the current Wii U development kits are underclocked. No biggie; new ones are on the way.
Sega’s Gary Dunn, managing director of development, confirms that new Wii U dev kits will be delivered to developers in the next month or two. He tells Eurogamer that he digs the current kit, calling it “quite powerful.” He does go on to say that he’s looking forward to the new kits, which are expected to give them more information.
“It’s still a little early,” Dunn told Eurogamer. “There’s another generation of prototype hardware coming out in June or July that’s going to give us more information.”
“We’ve certainly found it easier to get prototypes up and running on next-gen definition visuals, so we’re quite pleased with it,” he added.
Dunn said that one of their graphic engineers was able to port something across “very quickly,” so that’s probably a good sign for Wii U development.
