Mortal Kombat Season Pass annouced for Xbox 360

Next week on June 21, Skarlet will enter the Mortal Kombat tournament… if you’re willing to pony up 400 MS Points or $4.99. Skarlet will be followed by three more characters over the course of the summer, all at the same price.
In an effort to get you to purchase them all (with the added benefit of saving you some cash), Warner Bros. and NetherRealm have announced the Mortal Kombat Season Pass for Xbox 360. This 1200 MS Points package will give players access to all of the fighters as they become available throughout the summer. Note that Season Pass will be available for 360 only; we’re checking to see why PS3 users won’t have this option.
Additionally, compatability packs for the game will be released throughout the summer, “in order to allow seamless online play with the new downloadable warriors.” These packs will be free for all, and will be release alongside each new character. Each pack will also contain free “klassic” skins, the first of which will be Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3-inspired Cyrax and Sektor skins.
If you’d planned on getting all of the new fighters, the season pass seems like an okay deal, saving you five bucks for an early commitment. Each character will come complete with his or her own set of moves, arcade story, and two new Fatalities, so these aren’t simple palette swaps. Whether or not they’ll be worth your money will depend on how much Mortal Kombat you plan on playing this summer.
Will you be picking up the fighters? If you have an Xbox 360, will you purchase the Season Pass? PS3 owners, do you feel as if you’ve been snubbed by not being given the option, or are you happy you’ve got Kratos on your team?
