Monster Hunter Wilds hides 26 carving knife skins on your hunter’s belt, including a lightsaber

Monster Hunter Wilds has a hidden feature that lets you change your carving knife skin by changing your hunter’s belt—their waist armor.
Recommended VideosThis feature isn’t clearly explained in the MH Wilds interface, likely because it depends entirely on what armor your character is wearing. You can’t freely change the knife’s appearance whenever you want, and it’s more of a bonus tied to your armor choice rather than a pure cosmetic option like knife skins in other games.
If you want to see all the different knife models, you’ll need to wear all armor sets at different times, even if they aren’t best suited for your area.

Interestingly, some of these knives change depending on your character’s gender. For example, the Balarina Coil and Udra Mirecoil each have different knife models for male and female characters.
These knife skins come from Coil Armor sets crafted from materials of specific monsters you defeat in the game. However, they look the same regardless of whether you’re using a standard, alpha, or beta version of the gear. As long as you equip the waist armor, the corresponding knife skin will appear, no matter what other armor pieces you’re wearing.
Some standout models include the lightsaber-like knife from the Artian Coil Alpha and the pitch-black knives from the Dahaad Coils.
The carving knife skin applies to any action that uses the knife, such as carving animations, steak cutting, and other in-game interactions. To see the effect, equip the corresponding waist armor and check out your new knife skin.
It’s unclear if players will eventually be able to select a knife skin independently of their waist armor. For now, the feature remains completely tied to the gear piece you have equipped unless you want to dive into Monster Hunter Wilds mods to look for further customizations.
