MLB 15 The Show gets bat-grain 10th anniversary edition

With some major league caveats
Recommended VideosOk, that’s a pretty sweet steelbook case. And Canada getting the Blue Jays’ Russel Martin on the case is a nice touch.
The rest of this package is a little more troubling. First, the 10th anniversary is only offered for PS4. Then there’s the recent PlayStation Blog post that lists all of MLB 15‘s updates. The first category is “Gameplay Improvements”–an important one–wherein it notes “(PS4 and PS3 only).” So the Vita is probably going to end up a hack job.
Giving $10 worth of in-game currency and $15 of item packs just feels like a way to encourage these micro transactions in the future, giving players a taste. Especially since you’re paying an additional $10 for this edition anyways. You get all 30 teams’ dynamic PS4 themes ($3.50 each), but I imagine you’ll only want to use one of them. The team you’re a fan of.
Yeah, the packaging is the only thing that’s any good here, and it isn’t worth $10 to me. Annual sports games should be the last ones to try and get away with microtransactions, given their iterative nature and good sales.
