Having purchased Minecraft back when it was in alpha form, it’s amazing to see it evolve into the powerhouse it is today — causing Microsoft and Nintendo to team up and take on a joint venture together.

But it’s still surprising to see it do so well worldwide, and that includes a recent figure from Japan. According to sales figures published by Famitsu, Minecraft has sold over one million units on the Vita in Japan since it launched in March of 2015 — yes, that Vita, which is basically dead in the west.

I imagine a future where Sony didn’t launch with their outrageously priced, anti-consumer Vita memory cards, and developers and users alike flocked to it just like the PSP. Alas, it’s not to be.
