Microsoft: Devs have monthly cap for adding Achievements

‘We don’t want to overwhelm gamers’
Recommended VideosWith the impending change of guard of Xbox consoles, Microsoft is taking the opportunity to revamp its Achievement system. There have been plenty of rumors surrounding Xbox One Achievements, but Microsoft shed a bit of light on one of the crucial aspects.
In an interview with Xbox360Achievements, Xbox One program manager Chad Gibson revealed that developers will be subject to a monthly cap for the number of Achievements that they’re able to add. While developers can add Achievements every week, “developers won’t be adding 10,000 Gamerscore a day” said Gibson. Gibson went on to state that these limitations would be in place because they “don’t want to overwhelm gamers”.
I guess this is decent news for the people that actually care about Achievements, as it provides a bit of comfort that some sort of structure will remain. Call me cynical, but the “developers can always add Achievements” facet feels like a thinly-veiled attempt to keep people from trading in their games.
At least Microsoft isn’t awarding Achievements for watching TV. Oh, that might be a thing? Damnit.
